SUMMARY
I am have always been involved with the creation of devices which help people to live happier lives. Specifically the devices I focus upon become part of a person and are typically integral to persons everyday life and identity. I am curious about most people and things, which has created a very broad and diverse life and career. Although I am proud of my achievements to date, I know this is just the start of a very exciting journey.

EXPERIENCE
Product Designer: Interface Group: Nov 2012 – Present: Engineering Group, Össur, Iceland
A prosthetic interface is the point in which prosthesis and person meet and interact. The R&D interface group at Össur enhances this most critical of prosthetic components fusing knowledge of physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, materials science, mechanical engineering and bionic technology.
Bionic Engineer: Knees and Feet Nov 2011 – Oct 2012: Bionic Engineering Group, Össur Iceland
1 year of product development on a range of bionic products, principally the Rheo knee, but including user interface software and the Symbionic Leg. A wide range of product development activities were conducted including algorithm development, clinical testing, mechanical design, user interface design, electronic design/testing.
Mechatronic Engineer 2007 – Nov 2011 (4 years): Mechatronic Platform: Össur Iceland
4 years of product development on a range of bionic products, principally the Rheo knee, but including the Proprio foot and the Symbionic Leg. A wide range of product development activities were conducted including algorithm development, clinical testing, mechanical design, user interface design, electronic design/testing. The Össur mechatronics engineering group grew from 3 engineers to approximately 15 during this time.
Clinician: Prosthetist & Orthotist 2002 – 2004 (2 years) North Of Norway Orthopaedic Workshop
Clinics in all aspects of prosthetics and orthotics were conducted in the arctic. Both Norwegian town dwellers and the rural Lappish people were treated. A large variety of orthotics and prosthetics were prescribed, manufactured and fitted.
Clinician(intern): Prosthetist & Orthotist 2001 – 2002 (1 year) Exeter Mobility Centre, England
Experience gained in specialist diabetic clinics, peadatrics, lower and upper limb prosthetics

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
1st Class B.Eng(Hons) Cybernetics and Electronic Engineering, The University of Reading (2004 – 2007)
▪ Usher/Whitfield Cybernetics Prize for best B.Sc./BEng degree result
▪ Awarded Prize for best B.Sc./B.Eng. Project 2007
▪ Commended for academic engineering excellence in prosthetics, bionics and mechatronics
The university of Reading is one of few institutions in the world with a long history of excellence in cybernetics. Cybernetics if used with the correct focus is a very powerful tool in which people lives can be significantly enhanced using systematic analysis and tools

1st Class B.Sc.(Hons) Prosthetics and Orthotics, The University of Salford (1998 – 2002)
▪ Finished top of class.
▪ A comprehensive and well-grounded course which critically included clinical exposure from day one.
▪ During this time period I also spent the summer vacations working for a range of prosthetics and orthotics facilities.
▪ To certify as a CPO I completed a 1 year internship in the well-respected Royal Exeter and Devonshire prosthetics and orthotics department (England)
